What we heard
The public identified key issues for both Hwy 212 and the route that Hwy 22 takes through Glencoe. The public also gave their input on which potential improvements they could support on Hwy 212 as well as potential Hwy 22 re-routes.
Feedback on Hwy 212
The public identified four key issues for Hwy 212:
- There is confusion at intersections
- There is a need for walking and biking improvements
- Concern around speed limits
- There is a need to plan for increased traffic and future growth
All proposed safety improvements, single lane roundabouts and J-turns received support from the community.
Feedback on Hwy 22 re-route
The public identified four key issues for Hwy 22:
- There is confusion about the current route of Hwy 22
- Trucks have issues making turns
- There is a desire to remove heavy truck traffic from the downtown
- There is a need for walking and biking improvements
- Concern around speed limits
- There is a need for better signage
All four potential re-routes of Hwy 22 received support (image below). Keeping the current route of Hwy 22 was not widely support.
