Geology Unit

Goal

The goal of the Geology Unit is to provide technical expertise in the areas of geology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, aggregate quality, and geophysics as applied to transportation related projects and activities.

Geologic Investigations

Karst/Sinkholes: Analysis, investigation, mitigation/design recommendation, and ponding guidance for construction stormwater permit compliance
Rock Slopes/Excavation: Analysis, recommendation, design and vibration control
Rock Fall Management: Analysis and control recommendations
Environmental Documents: Environmental Notification Memo (ENM), Early Coordination Response Memo (ECR), Planning Environmental Linkage Study (PEL)

Pavement and Structures: Aggregate-related failure investigation
Riprap: Assessment and Quality Control Plans for Specifications 2511 and 3601
Training: Lithological summary for district (and consultant) aggregate lab personnel
