Government Affairs Office
Goal
The goal of this office is to coordinate and advocate for agency legislative initiatives and ensure that the MnDOT Commissioner and the Governor’s Office are apprised of relevant developments, including potentially controversial policy or funding requests related to MnDOT or its projects.

- Support for interacting with state and federal legislators and other state and federal agencies
- Information on state and federal legislative activities and issues impacting MnDOT
- Liaison with stakeholders including Governor's Office, state legislature, federal legislature local governments, and interest groups
- Advocacy for continued and new transportation funding
What to expect from the office
- Help and support to ensure staff are prepared to interact with state and federal legislators and other state and federal agencies, especially at hearings
- Communication about state and federal legislative activities and issues impacting MnDOT
- Help and support to communicate with stakeholders including Governor's Office, state legislature, federal legislature, local governments, and interest groups
- Advocacy support for continued and new transportation funding
What you need to provide to the office
- Responses to any Bill Review Requests
- Communication about external decisions with potential to significantly impact MnDOT projects
- Communication about potential controversial developments or controversial funding requests with MnDOT projects
- Notification when a MnDOT project becomes controversial at the local government level
- Notify Office with a short summary of any legislative contact
