TSRT Federal Indian Policy Legacies and Continuing Impacts
This 75-minute course is the second in the Tribal-State Relations Training series. It serves to educate state agency staff about the historical eras of federal Indian policy as it pertains to tribal-state relations.
Prerequisites
Abstract
To build a fundamental understanding of the historical and policy-orientated contexts in which the State of Minnesota engages with tribal nations so that employees may work more effectively with tribal governments and American Indians. Upon completing this course, you will:
- Have an enhanced understanding of American Indian tribal sovereignty
- Be able to differentiate major historical eras of federal policy regarding American Indian nations
- Be able to consider the ongoing impacts of past and present policy on contemporary tribal-state relations.
