Floodplains
Purpose
The purpose of this guidance is to direct you to the procedures necessary to avoid long- and short-term adverse impacts associated with the occupancy and modifications of floodplains and preserve the natural and beneficial values those floodplains serve.
When to use this subject
If your project lies adjacent to or crosses a floodplain area transversely, longitudinally, or both, you must consider impacts to those floodplains.

How this subject fits into the overall project development process
Start this part of the project in the scoping phase and complete the Floodplain Assessment in the environmental review phase. Obtain permits prior to project letting.
