Pavement Marking Plan
Purpose
A pavement marking is a form of communication that lets drivers know where to position their vehicles, warn them of upcoming conditions, and indicate where passing is allowed. Including a pavement marking plan in a project ensures that the final roadway conveys proper information.
When to use this subject
All roadways open to the public require pavement markings. Use this section when constructing or reconstructing a roadway, or when a project affects existing pavement markings.
For specific process information, see the other guidance page or contact the individuals on the contacts page.
How this subject fits into the overall project development process
This process starts as soon as lane configuration is discussed in scoping and is integral to effectively communicating roadway use to the traveling public. You will need to continue this process until project turn in at the end of final design.
