Signal Plan

Purpose

Traffic signals improve safety at intersections by protecting vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists and ensuring safe and orderly traffic flow.

When to use this subject

You will need a signal plan any time you have a project with signalized intersections.

For specific process information, see the other guidance and/or contact the individual on the contacts page.

How this subject fits into the overall project development process

Scoping must be complete before you begin work on signal plans in the preliminary design phase.  You will need to know the layout and specific design of the intersection to create these sheets.  Once the plan sheets are complete, they are ready to go into the main construction plan for project turn in.
