Off-road work and periodic lane closures to occur anytime on this project.
April 2025
Prepare work zone week of April 7: Periodic lane closures on both directions of I-94 between Albertville and Monticello as crews set-up the work zone, includes installing concrete barrier. Lane closures will occur at off-peak hours, mainly overnights.
Construct April 14 to early/mid-November: I-94 will remain open to two lanes each way, on the adjacent eastbound side, as crews work on the westbound side
About this project

MnDOT Materials and Road Research facility (MnROAD)
When complete in 2026, the westbound lanes in the MnROAD area from Albertville to Monticello will be as they are today—except three lanes. The future test section along westbound I-94, will be for truck traffic only. Drivers will use a entrance ramp from westbound I-94, drive on the test section and use a exit ramp back onto westbound. Signs will signify truckers a road test is in operation and they need to exit ahead. More details to become available when known.
