Mapping Area of Potential Effect (Archaeology or History)
The project APEs for archaeological and historical resources must be provided as separate polygon shapefiles. For the archaeology APE, the shapefile will be named apea.shp. For the history APE, the shapefile will be named apeh.shp. The file attributes will be the same. The polygon boundary must be closed. APEA is a required layer if an archaeological survey is conducted. APEH is a required layer if an architecture/history survey is conducted. Do not map an APE for an area where there will be no potential effect. For example, if a portion of the project consists of only a tar overlay, do not map an APE for that portion, as there is no potential effect for archaeological or historical resources.
